Methodological evaluation shows a 20% improvement in system reliability in Tanzania’s water facilities during drought, indicating the need for targeted interventions.
Water treatment facilities in Tanzania face challenges related to system reliability, particularly during drought periods. We utilised DID for System Reliability Analysis (SRA), comparing pre- and post-drought periods in Tanzania's water supply systems. There was an observed improvement of 20% in system reliability during the study period, with a 95% confidence interval around this estimate. The DID model effectively quantifies system performance changes, highlighting areas needing further investment and maintenance. Implementing targeted interventions based on identified system weaknesses is recommended to enhance water supply reliability in drought-prone regions.
