Abstract

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are crucial in Morocco's economic development, accounting for a significant share of employment and national output. However, they are particularly vulnerable to failure due to their size, limited financial capacity, and exposure to unstable macroeconomic environments. This paper aims to present a literature review on strategies for preventing SME failures in Morocco, divided into three main areas. The first will outline the factors behind business failure. The second will focus on the different consequences of bankruptcy, and the third will present the various strategies to prevent SME failures. To do this, a literature review will be carried out by consulting academic databases such as Scopus and Google Scholar, searching for targeted keywords such as “Failure”, “prevention”, “SMEs”, “strategies”, and “Morocco”. In order to rigorously select the best articles that align with our theme, we need to prepare a robust and information-rich theoretical framework. In conclusion, the results of our analysis show that several strategies can be implemented to fight against the failure of Moroccan SMEs, namely strengthening managerial skills through training, improving access to finance through adapted credits and support funds, digitalization and innovation to optimize processes and differentiate.
