Solar cookers have become a popular tool for cooking in various parts of Africa, particularly among rural women farmers who face challenges such as fuel scarcity and health issues related to traditional open fires. A pilot study was conducted in selected communities within Ethiopia's rural areas, involving a sample survey with interviews and observations focusing on the use of solar cookers for cooking meals over two different seasons. The study demonstrates that solar cookers can be effective in enhancing dietary diversity among Ethiopian rural women farmers by providing them with more versatile cooking methods. Further research should consider the long-term effects of using solar cookers and explore how they might integrate into existing agricultural practices to maximise benefits for rural communities.
