Scoping review identifies stigma reduction strategies in healthcare for substance use disorders, suggesting training improvements for professionals.
Stigma towards people who use drugs (PWUD), particularly people who have substance use disorders (SUD), has been identified as a pervasive problem across multiple healthcare sectors in North Carolina. Currently, there is no comprehensive list of stigma reduction trainings for NC health professionals, nor a synthesis of training components that are most impactful at reducing stigma. We propose conducting a scoping review of existing trainings with a particular focus on interprofessional trainings, given the interdisciplinary nature of care for patients with SUD.
