Comparative study reveals Microjet production improves anode performance in silicon-based materials, suggesting a better manufacturing method.
To tackle the issue of low-quality silicon-based anodes in commercial mechanical ball-milling processes, an MJ Gr/Si/C composite is developed. This composite consists of silicon coated with carbon and supported by graphene, all produced through a one-step Microjet process. The MJ Gr/Si/C exhibits an extremely high initial Coulombic efficiency (ICE) of 91.08% and the highest capacity of 2083 mAh g–1 at 0.1 A g–1. Even at a high discharge current of 2 A g–1, it shows an initial capacity of 818 mAh g–1 and a retention of 82.1% after 1000 cycles. Through a comparison analysis with SiCX produced by ball milling, the study affirms that Microjet demonstrates potential in addressing the challenge of high productivity yet low consistency in ball-milling procedures. It could become a cost-effective, high-quality, and high-yield production method for commercial silicon-based anode manufacturing.
