Sprayable superhydrophobic photothermal/electrothermal anti-icing coating based on evaporation-induced surfactant flocculation self-assembly

XZXi ZhangBeijing Technology and Business UniversityXSXixun ShenShanghai University of Electric PowerGLGaofei LiangChang'an University

Key Points

  • To develop a superhydrophobic coating that can prevent icing and facilitate rapid de-icing.
  • Utilized solvent evaporation to induce surfactant flocculation.
  • Created hierarchical micro–nanostructures through self-assembly.
  • Tested the coating's durability and anti-icing performance.
  • Coating significantly delays icing formation.
  • Demonstrated effective photothermal and electrothermal de-icing capabilities.

Abstract

Solvent evaporation-induced surfactant flocculation enables in situ self-assembly of hierarchical micro–nanostructures, yielding a durable superhydrophobic coating that delays icing and enables rapid photothermal/electrothermal de-icing.
