Retrospective observational study demonstrates a self-help device improves cap opening in hemiplegic patients, indicating its utility.
Objective: Patients forced to use only one hand find opening an inner plug (“plug”) of the pull-hinge cap difficult. Thus, we developed aself-help device consisting of a cord and a J-shaped hook. This device allows the user to pull a ring fixed to the pull-hinge cap with one hand. This study demonstrated the effectiveness of our newly developed device by comparing the action of opening plug with the device (“usage motion”) and without the device (“non-usage motion”) in patients with hemiplegia.
