This technical note introduces Agent Artifact Availability (AAA) — a formal framework for preserving the outputs of computational work in autonomous agent systems. As independent agents operate across distributed environments, the artifacts they produce — datasets, model outputs, research results, and intermediate computational states — routinely become inaccessible or lost when processes end or environments are torn down. This note establishes AAA as a distinct reliability requirement: artifacts must remain retrievable, verifiable, and reusable across agents, workflows, and time. Rather than treating computational outputs as temporary byproducts, the framework positions them as durable units of completed work. Traditional storage systems — files, databases, cloud object stores — were designed for human-operated systems and lack the mechanisms required for machine-driven computational networks. AAA is proposed as a dedicated infrastructure layer to fill this gap. This is Technical Note 01 of the Agent Artifact Availability (AAA) Framework series.
