This research synthesizes tetraethers from specific acids, revealing insights into esterification kinetics.
For the first time, tetraethers of pentaerythritol and carboxylic acids were synthesized: 2-methylpentanoic, 4-methylpentanoic, 2,2-dimethylbutanoic, and 2-ethylbutanoic acids. The main series of ions were obtained during mass spectral analysis of these compounds. The viscosity and melting point indices of the obtained and purified ( wt. %) samples were determined. The kinetic parameters of the esterification of these carboxylic acids with pentaerythritol were studied, and the rate constants for all stages of the hydroxyl group substitution process were determined. The influence of the carboxylic acid structure on the duration of the esterification process was shown.
