Abstract

Idealized by the art critic Frederico Morais, the exhibitions Do Corpo à Terra and Objeto e Participação were proposed as two parallel and related events. The experimentalism and the radicalism of the artworks shown at the exhibitions made them both memorable art events, which challenged the current censorship and the political persecution in 1970. In this article we propose to reflect on these events according to the idea of art as participation and experience. Our conclusion is that Do Corpo à Terra and Objeto e Participação had an important role encouraging the spectator’s experience, turning him into a collaborator of the creative process, also contributing to the dissolution of art in life’s context.
