Article reveals the transfer of valuable literature to academic libraries, highlighting its importance for science.
Despite all efforts made during the Great Patriotic War to preserve book collections of scientific and educational institutions in the European part of the USSR, they were partially destroyed, removed from the country, or damaged during evacuation. To compensate for these losses, book collections from state libraries and private individuals who had collaborated with the Nazi regime were transferred from Germany to the USSR. This article presents information on the receipt of reparation literature by academic libraries. The selection of publications was carried out thoughtfully, in accordance with to criteria developed by scholars and librarians at joint meetings of the Presidium of the USSR Academy of Sciences. A significant amount of literature was purchased from German publishers and booksellers. The literature added to the collections of academic libraries played a vital role in providing information to science in the post-war years. These books remain carefully preserved on library shelves to this day and represent an integral part of the world's scientific heritage.
