Qualitative perspectives explore PrEP use barriers and facilitators in HIV-positive men’s partners, suggesting a need for increased awareness and reduced stigma.
MSMWH support their sexual partners' use of PrEP in tangible ways, as motivated by a sense of responsibility for their partners, which may be useful in addressing the HIV epidemic. Utilization of couple-based HIV prevention work may be a way to leverage this support. Efforts to increase PrEP uptake should also address barriers to care, including increasing PrEP awareness, addressing medical mistrust and reducing PrEP-related stigma.
