Action research highlights how climate change affects human security in Djibouti's Sahel region, suggesting urgent adaptations.
Climate change is increasingly affecting human security in Djibouti's Sahel region, where livelihoods are heavily dependent on natural resources such as water and pasture. An action research approach was employed to gather data through interviews with community leaders and focus group discussions with farmers and herders. A significant proportion (70%) of respondents reported increased frequency of droughts, leading to reduced crop yields and livestock deaths. The study highlights the urgent need for climate-resilient agricultural practices and improved access to health services in Djibouti's Sahel region. Policy recommendations include integrating early warning systems into local governance structures and promoting drought-resistant crops.
