Research explores ce3+ substituted calcium silicate phosphors, showing potential for blue components in displays, indicating broad applications.
(1-7 mol %) Ce3+ substituted CaSiO3 nanophosphors have been prepared combustion synthesis. The phosphors have been well studied by PXRD, FESEM, FTIR and UV Visible spectroscopy. X-Ray diffraction pattern confirms monoclinic phase of CaSiO3. Average crystallite size of the samples as calculated by Scherer's formula and W-H plots is found to be 34 - 42 nm. FE-SEM micrographs show that particles are of agglomerated and are irregular in shape. Energy band gap of the samples calculated from Kubelka- Munk method are found to be in the range of (3.3-3.4) eV. PL emission of the phosphors is observed at 483 nm concerned to transition 5d →4f of the Ce3+ ions for excitation wavelength at 350 nm. CIE and CCT values are situated in the blue regions, prepared phosphor might be useful in blue component of WLED's and solidstate display applications
