Demonstrates enhanced electromagnetic shielding in copper-doped nanoparticles, suggesting potential applications in technology.
Present study reports the synthesis of Cu (5 mol %) doped CeO2 nanoparticles by versatile Green solution combustion synthesis using Aloevera extract as a reducing agent to study electromagnetic shielding properties. Standard characterization techniques have analyzed synthesized nanoparticles. PXRD analysis confirms the cubic spinel structure of nanoparticles with an average crystallite size of 33 and 38 nm estimated using Scherrer and W-H plot methods respectively. Surface morphological studies show the presence of irregularly shaped nanoparticles with few voids. The elemental composition of nanoparticles was confirmed by EDAX analysis which confirms the purity of the sample. The optical direct band energy gap was analyzed by UV visible spectroscopy and was found to be 3.68eV. The total shielding efficiency is a key factor in representing the shielding parameters. The total shielding efficiency values for CeO2:Cu (5 mol %) nanoparticles are calculated in the near-infrared, mid-infrared, far infrared, ultra-high frequency, very high frequency, high frequency, middle frequency, low frequency, and very low-frequency radio waves regions of the frequency range (4×1014Hz to 30Hz). The total shielding efficiency values suggest that CeO2:Cu (5 mol %)nanoparticles finds an application in electromagnetic shielding.
