Development and Conservation of Biological Resources of the World Ocean

The article analyzes one of the areas of the Hydrocosmos integrated program - development and conservation of biological resources of the World Ocean. It is assumed that the main tasks of this area will be the inventory of biodiversity and bioresources in the interests of the domestic economy, the search for new marine organisms - producers of biologically active compounds, the development of technologies for environmental monitoring and conservation of biological diversity, as well as technologies for breeding and processing marine organisms. It is proposed to monitor harmful algal blooms in the waters of the Russian Far East and the eastern Arctic. A.V. Zhirmunsky National Scientific Center of Marine Biology of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and other scientific and educational organizations of the Far Eastern Federal District have sufficient potential to perform the listed tasks. The possibility of creating a network of biotechnological clusters in the Far East for the purpose of developing mariculture, restoring stocks of valuable aquatic organisms and obtaining raw materials for pharmaceutical production is considered.
