Infant care is crucial for premature and low-birth-weight newborns who are highly vulnerable to hypothermia, a condition where body temperature falls below 36.5 °C and can lead to serious complications or death. Conventional incubators are effective but expensive, power-hungry, and not always accessible in all healthcare settings. This project proposes a solar-powered infant incubator that is affordable, energy-efficient, and reliable. It uses a solar photovoltaic system with battery backup to ensure continuous operation, even during power failures. A microcontroller-based unit monitors temperature through sensors and controls a DC heating system, with added safety features like alarms, cooling fan, and real-time LCD display. The insulated chamber design ensures heat retention and infant comfort, making the system suitable for both resource-limited and modern healthcare facilities.
