Evaluates coaching behaviour in sports coaches, indicating a valid tool for effective coaching in Indonesia.
Coaching behaviour plays a crucial role in shaping athletes’ performance, yet research in Indonesia lacks culturally validated instruments to assess such behaviour. This study addresses this gap by testing the validity and reliability of the Indonesian version of the Coaching Behaviour Scale for Sport (CBS-S). In this study, a quantitative approach was used to collect data from 106 undergraduate students majoring in Sports Coaching Education at Universitas Negeri Malang, utilizing an online survey. To assess the instrument, Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Cronbach’s alpha were utilized. The outcomes showed that 39 out of 47 items were valid and reliable across six dimensions, while seven items, mainly in the head coach dimension, were excluded due to low factor loadings. These outcomes confirm that the Indonesian CBS-S is a reliable and culturally suitable tool for evaluating coaching behavior. This gives a solid foundation for future research and practical applications in coach enhancement and athlete training.
