Observations reveal child abuse course fails to enhance medical practice knowledge for license renewal.
To the Editor.— I attended a "Child Abuse" course as a mandatory requirement for New York State Medical License renewal. To summarize, the contents of the course were similar to what I had been exposed to many, many times during my pediatric training. To be honest, I did not learn anything new or additional from what I already knew about this aspect of medical practice. In addition, there has been constant exposure to the existence and awareness of child abuse via departmental and national meetings, as well as through pediatric practice.
