Abstract: Art has long supported healing, and, in nursing, creative practices such as music, writing, and photography enhance holistic care by fostering connection, emotional well-being, and comfort during end-of-life moments. Bereavement photography, particularly in neonatal and pediatric settings, provides families with a tangible way to honor and remember their child, while also helping nurses and caregivers process their grief. Research shows that images are deeply valued as keepsakes of life and love, and when offered with ethical, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed approaches, photography becomes a meaningful part of care. Nurse-led initiatives and hospital-based programs underscore the growing recognition of art as a vital component of quality care, demonstrating how creativity in nursing fosters empathy and resilience and addresses the emotional and spiritual needs of those experiencing loss.
