In this study, we investigated the relationship between throwing motion and ball flight distance in American football with the aim of developing a coaching system based on motion data. We measured the angular velocity of each segment during the throw using inertial sensors and analyzed the characteristics of forms that enable long-distance throws. The results suggested that the kinetic chain is one of the important factors. Even only angular velocity data is demonstrated to be helpful for the player to recognize and correct their form.
