This analysis assesses quality of life in adolescents on maintenance haemodialysis, suggesting significant impacts from social needs.
Maintenance haemodialysis(MHD) is costly, time consuming, lifestyle-modifying and requires a lot of discipline, which is an uphill task for the young with challenges of puberty. In low-and middle-income countries, there is growing evidence that health-related social needs are prominent among patients on maintenance haemodialysis, which affects their quality of life. However, there is paucity of data in Africa which has many young children and adolescents on maintenance haemodialysis. We aimed to assess the health-related social needs and quality of life in adolescents and young adults on maintenance haemodialysis in Cameroon.
