This project develops and evaluates a mobile app prototype that monitors mental health, indicating a new approach to understanding emotional wellbeing.
One in four people in the UK is experiencing a mental health problem each year (Marzano, et al., 2015). A person’s mental health consists of his physiological and emotional wellbeing and it can, therefore, affect the way we feel and think. Unfortunately, mental health is often neglected. As a matter of fact, “mental health” and “physical health” should not be separated because the former can have a serious impact on the latter and vice-versa. In recent years, mobile applications are gradually approaching mental health. Most applications are either standalone self-monitoring apps or complex systems with wearable sensors (Marzano, et al., 2015). This project aims to design and evaluate a mobile app prototype that will allow the users to monitor their mental health, understand what triggers them and find solutions to their problems.
