Dual Aspiration Technique (DATE) for Iliofemoral Deep Vein Thrombosis: Physics-Guided Technique and Early 10-Patient Experience

The Dual Aspiration Technique (DATE) is a new approach for thrombectomy in iliofemoral deep vein thrombosis (DVT), using 2 catheters to combine negative aspiration pressure with venous flow. In an early study of 10 patients, DATE achieved complete or near-complete thrombus clearance with a single pass and no major adverse events. The technique was efficient, with an average procedure time under 30 minutes. These promising results suggest that DATE could offer a safer and more effective alternative to traditional thrombectomy methods. Larger studies are needed to confirm its efficacy.
