In silico and in vitro analysis shows Resolvin E1's potential to modulate inflammation in root resorption.
Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the interaction of Resolvin E1 with macrophage-associated inflammatory markers and assess its potential role in macrophage polarization relevant to root resorption therapy. Methods: Molecular docking was performed using AutoDock Vina to evaluate binding affinity between Resolvin E1 and inflammatory mediators including IL-1, GM-CSF, IFN-γ, and IL-10. In vitro analysis involved THP-1-derived macrophages stimulated with inflammatory cues and treated with Resolvin E1. Gene expression of M1 and M2 macrophage markers was assessed using qPCR. Results: Resolvin E1 demonstrated moderate binding affinity with IL-1 and GM-CSF and stable hydrogen bonding interactions. Preliminary in silico findings suggest favorable immunomodulatory potential. In vitro results are currently under evaluation. Conclusions: Resolvin E1 shows promise as a potential therapeutic modulator for controlling inflammation-mediated root resorption through macrophage polarization pathways.
