A case reports gall bladder rupture and infection in a dog, indicating effective treatment for Listeria monocytogenes.
An 8‐year‐old, male, neutered labradoodle was evaluated for acute vomiting and lethargy. Listeria monocytogenes and Escherichia coli were cultured from bile and peritoneal fluid. Exploratory laparotomy revealed gall bladder rupture; cholecystectomy was performed. Complete recovery occurred following treatment for L. monocytogenes infection based on culture and susceptibility test results.
