This report reveals the presence of Colletotrichum fructicola causing anthracnose in Lippia alba, suggesting a new concern for this species in Brazil.
conidial suspension (10 6 conidia/mL) were pulverized to the leaf surface of four leaves from three 25-day-old seedlings. The negative control consisted of 10 L of sterile distilled water.Symptoms were observed seven days after inoculation. The isolate LM-2566 induced similar symptoms to those observed in the original plants. The pathogen was reisolated from symptomatic leaves, showing morphological characteristics similar to those of the inoculated isolate. The negative control did not present symptoms.Colletotrichum gloeosporioides has already been reported as an endophyte in genus Lippia, however its identification was based only on morphological characteristics (de Siqueira et al. 2011).To our knowledge, this is the first report of C. fructicola in L. alba worldwide (Figs.S1 andS2).
