An interactive game supplements oral disease teaching in dental education, indicating a shift towards engaging learning methods.
In a world that is increasingly technological, it is becoming clear that students value diverse experiences when it comes to their education. To cater to different learning styles, Path-finder, an interactive game, was developed to supplement oral disease teaching at the School of Clinical Dentistry in Sheffield. The game was piloted by undergraduate dentistry students who took part in a voluntary survey afterwards. The authors’ experiences of creating Path-finder, alongside the responses of the students, are reflected on in this article illustrating how game-based learning is becoming both more prevalent and valued in dental education. CPD/Clinical Relevance: To cater to different learning styles, Path-finder, an interactive game, was developed to supplement oral disease teaching.
