One of the key social and medical problems in the Donetsk Peoples Republic (DPR) is the rising incidence of malignant neoplasms. Cancer is the second leading cause of death (19.3%). The history of the oncology service in Donbass dates back to 1943. Then, immediately after the liberation of Stalino (now Donetsk), the X-ray station and oncology hospital began to be reopened. Over the decades, the service has come a long way - from a small dispensary to a major Republican Oncology Center, which today bears the name of the founder of the oncology school and service in Donbass, the renowned surgeon and academician of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, G.V. Bondar. The oncocardiology service of the DPR continues to develop, providing high-tech medical care to the population. This symbiosis of science and practice not only improves the quality of life for patients but also strengthens the regions position in the healthcare system of the Russian Federation.
