Objectives: Microvascular anastomosis is an essential part of head and neck free-flap reconstruction surgery, yet its technical demands require substantial training. Chicken thigh models have been widely used for simulation training, but their impact on actual surgical performance remains unclear. The aim of this study is to examine the impact of training using chicken thighs on the learning curve in real free-flap surgeries, and to introduce our concept of microvascular anastomosis.
