Fossil specimen reveals insights about insect evolution in late Cenozoic Japan, suggesting further studies are essential.
A fossil pentatomid specimen from the Late Pliocene to Early Pleistocene Haruki Mud of the Teragi Group in Shin-onsen Town, Hyogo Prefecture is described as Arma sp. The specimen was discovered in the private collection of fossil specimens offered to the Kanagawa University by an alumnus. The diverse Late Pliocene to Early Pleistocene fossil insect fauna of the town deserve further study, and it is expected to contribute to the further understanding of the development of Japanese insect fauna in the late Cenozoic.
