Review highlights the effectiveness of interactive and bilingual pedagogy in improving academic communication skills among students, suggesting better outcomes.
Academic communication skills are essential for effective learning, knowledge construction, and participation in higher education. However, students often face challenges in expressing ideas and understanding academic content due to variations in language proficiency. In this context, interactive pedagogy—characterized by active student participation, discussion, and collaborative learning—and bilingual pedagogy, which involves the flexible use of multiple languages to support comprehension, have emerged as effective approaches to enhance communication skills. This paper presents a review-based analysis of the role of interactive and bilingual pedagogical practices in strengthening academic communication skills among students. Adopting a qualitative approach based on secondary sources, including academic literature, policy perspectives, and institutional practices, the study examines how classroom interaction, bilingual explanation, and learner-centered teaching contribute to improved comprehension, expression, and participation. The paper also reflects institutional practices at Mahanth Ram Jiwan Das College, Vishnupur, Begusarai, where such approaches are integrated into teaching-learning processes to create an inclusive and supportive academic environment. The findings indicate that the combined use of interactive and bilingual pedagogy enhances students’ communication abilities, confidence, and overall learning outcomes. The study highlights the importance of adopting flexible and participatory teaching approaches to strengthen academic communication in higher education.
