Simulation analyzes low-carbon operation methods for regional energy systems, suggesting pathways for emission reductions.
As the power sector moves toward decarbonization with the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, flexible energy use based on a “Dynamic CO2 Emission Factor” that reflects hourly emission intensity is becoming important, replacing the CO2 emission factor that is evaluated at a fixed value. In this study, we calculated Dynamic CO2 Emission Factors based on actual electricity supply and demand data in the Tokyo metropolitan area, examined low-carbon operation methods for regional energy systems including cogeneration, and evaluated the overall emission reduction effects of the region through simulation.
