Systematic review evaluates the impact of digital tools on proteomic analysis in the scientific community, suggesting improvements.
Bioinformatics tools have proven promising, especially in specific applications such as proteomic analysis emphasising degradomics. Evaluating these tools is essential to identify patterns, opportunities for improvement, and the creation of new tools. This systematic literature review assesses how tools for proteomic analysis with an emphasis on degradomics contribute to the scientific community through their various functionalities, availability, and ease of use. Articles were searched in PubMed, Science Direct, and SpringerLink databases from 2015 to 2023. A total of 937 articles were initially obtained, which, after applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, resulted in the extraction of 10 main articles. The study identified the leading digital tools for proteomic analysis, emphasising degradomics and detailing their functionalities, technologies used in development, forms of distribution, and types of input and output data utilised. The conclusion was that these tools are highly useful. Despite their specificities, they follow a standard of availability and technical customisation, making them adaptable for different audiences and scalable for various applications.
