Observation Guide: Evaluating a Co-Creation Workshop. This observation guide supports the structured evaluation of co-creation or participatory workshops. It can be used flexibly to assess individual methods or to evaluate the workshop as a whole, depending on the purpose of the observation. The checklist aligns with the PROSECO framework and includes 16 components covering four process evaluation dimensions: Delivery, Experiential, Participation, and Impact. However, not all components will apply to every workshop or method, so please use your own discretion when setting up your guide for your project. Using a checklist approach, the guide outlines specific elements to monitor throughout the workshop. It enables systematic documentation of facilitator and co-creator performance in relation to both process and outcomes. Space is provided for concise comments to capture additional insights beyond the checklist items. The guide is intended to be completed by an impartial observer who documents interactions and completes the checklist. Observers should focus on recording observable behaviours rather than interpreting them. Upon completion, checklist responses can be totalled to generate performance scores at the method level or for the workshop overall. Instructions for calculating overall workshop scores are provided in Appendix 1. The checklist is available in both Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel formats, with the Excel version including integrated scoring functions. A completed example is also provided to support use. For questions regarding use, analysis, or application within the PROSECO framework, please contact Dr. Danielle Agnello at danielle.agnello@sund.ku.dk. Acknowledgements With sincere thanks to the following people for testing this tool on co-creation workshops: Maria Lorentsen (Aarhus University, Denmark) and Janneke de Boer (Ghent University, Belgium). Their input and reflections were vital to completing this guide. We would also like to acknowledge the support of Danielle's supervisory team (Professor Seb Chastin and Professor Artur Steiner) during this research process, which informed the development of this guide, as well as Knud Ryom for allowing Danielle to test the tool in the Child-COOP project. Please note: This guide is based on a one-year study investigating evaluation criteria for co-creation methods, and these findings were integrated into the PROSECO framework (Longworth and Agnello et al. 2025): https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S003335062500229X?via%3Dihub An Invitation Join the conversation and stay updated on her research into co-creation by following her on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/daniellemagnello/ Co-Creation Resources: For additional support in utilizing these co-creation methods in a co-creation process, explore our Draft Evidence-based Co-Creation Guideline: PRODUCES+ at: https://zenodo.org/records/16413815.
