Efficiently synthesizing dibenzosiloles using a pyridine/Zn system, indicating a practical approach for diverse applications.
Dibenzosiloles are privileged scaffolds in optoelectronic materials and organic synthesis, driving significant demand for efficient synthetic routes. Herein, we report an efficient and practical pyridine/Zn-mediated system (PZS) for dibenzosilole synthesis via the cross-coupling of readily available diiodobiaryls and dichlorosilanes, enabled by a simple and cost-effective 4-tert-butylpyridine additive. Compared with conventional lithiation-silylation or transition-metal-catalyzed approaches, this new protocol is operationally simple, economical, and exhibits a broad substrate scope with scalability. It thus provides a versatile and general platform for accessing diverse silafluorene architectures.
