This workshop teaches high school students about action-reaction forces, improving their understanding of physics concepts.
BackgroundPractical work is an fundamental and significant part of science teaching and learning for developing students' scientific knowledge (Millar, 2004).In physics education, some students are known to be difficult to understand the actual concept of physical action and reaction forces in the real world. To avoid minor misconceptions and beliefs about Newton's third law of motion, teachers should give learners opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge to authentic issues in various aspects. Therefore, we conducted this workshop for Japanese senior high school students majoring in science and mathematics to learn about the physical principle of Newton's third law of motion in the classroom, connecting the law with daily life situations.
