The main goal of this paper is to point out the influence of geopolitics on the situation in the world economy and the position of individual countries. This influence is often overlooked, which affects the reality of forecasting and strategic decision-making. The geopolitical map of the world is complex. The global rule - based world order, supported by the unipolar US hegemony, is gradually being replaced by a more fragmented and chaotic world, in which geopolitics is becoming the dominant factor and universal rules, norms and values increasingly questioned. Now, after decades of increasing global integration, the world is facing a growing risk of geoeconomic fragmentation and widespread societal and political polarization, with potentially far - reaching implications for the global economy, and the international monetary system. The risk of polycrisis is growing due to hightened uncertainty. So, we have a chaos - an acient word originally denoting a complete lack of forme or systematic arrangement, but now often used to imply absence of some kind of order that ought to be present. There are a few grounds for optimism in the world in 2025 and the decades to come. Key questions are: What can we learn from the past? Are we doomed to repat endlessly the cycles of rise and decline of power in international order that is found in our past? Are we going to have a global war for world system leadership?
