It asks a different question: what exactly is that floppy disk doing? The answer is: choosing. This paper proposes a physically grounded framework for the bandwidth difference between objective and subjective consciousness, derives the information gap from first principles, and argues that the capacity to choose — to select 50 bits from a flood of 10²1 — is not a defect but the deepest work of consciousness. The paper concludes with a methodological contribution: any discussion of consciousness in living systems must first declare its anchor point, distinguishing between the Narrow Theory (neuron as anchor) and the Broad Theory (any information transmission as anchor).
