Abstract: Environmental degradation and ecological imbalance have become critical global concerns in the contemporary world. Modern environmental philosophy has developed several theoretical frameworks to address these problems, among which deep ecology occupies a significant place. Interestingly, many ancient traditions, particularly the Vedic literature of India, contain profound ecological insights that resonate with modern environmental thought. The Atharvaveda, one of the four Vedas, presents a unique perspective on the relationship between human and nature, emphasizing harmony, reverence, and ecological balance. This paper explores the concept of environmental consciousness embedded in the Atharvaveda and examines its philosophical connection with the principles of contemporary deep ecology. The study reveals that the Atharvavedic worldview promotes a holistic ecological vision where humans are seen as integral parts of nature rather than its masters. Such perspectives provide valuable philosophical foundations for addressing present-day environmental crises.
