As lawmakers revisit the idea of tying Medicaid eligibility to work, new research raises questions about who would actually bear the consequences. The study estimates that more than 8 million adults could lose coverage under a national work requirement mandate — many of them coping with health limitations that fall short of official disability criteria but still sharply constrain daily functioning.
