Organic-inorganic metal halides (OIMHs) have garnered significant attention in recent years due to their structural diversity and compositional tunability, showcasing exceptional photoluminescence properties and emerging as a hotspot in optoelectronic materials research. In this work, two one-dimensional compounds, (C5H14N2)3Sb4Cl18 and (C5H14N2)SbBr5 (C5H14N22+ = 2-methylpiperazine dication), were designed and synthesized, which crystallize in the P-1 and P212121 space groups, respectively. PL measurements reveal that (C5H14N2)3Sb4Cl18 exhibits a bright orange emission with the strongest peak at 630 nm. Combined density functional theory calculations and spectroscopic analyses further confirm that the emission originates from the inorganic units. A white light-emitting diode device was successfully fabricated by mixing (C5H14N2)3Sb4Cl18 powder with commercial green and blue phosphors and coating it onto an ultraviolet (UV) LED chip, which exhibits a high color rendering index of 93.8. This study provides a promising candidate for the development of high-performance, low-cost solid-state lighting materials.
