This review maps evidence from preclinical and clinical trials on creatine supplementation in Alzheimer's Disease, indicating gaps in research.
the aim of this scoping review is to systematically map the extent, range, and nature of research on creatine supplementation for AD, encompassing human clinical trials and relevant animal models. While briefly considering the pathophysiology of AD and the theoretical benefits of creatine, this review specifically aims to characterize the key features of the available evidence. This includes experimental models, intervention protocols (e.g., dosage, duration, and administration routes) and both biological and behavioral outcomes. Ultimately, this review is designed to pinpoint the gaps that currently limit the translational potential of creatine as a strategy for AD.
