Road surface deterioration, especially pothole formation, is a major safety issue in India. This paper presents an AI-based smart road monitoring system using a hybrid YOLOv8 and CNN model for real-time pothole detection and verification. The system detects potholes, verifies them using a CNN classifier, and integrates GPS for automatic location tracking. A web-based system is also developed to generate and send complaints automatically to authorities. The model achieves high accuracy and provides a scalable and cost-effective solution for road safety and infrastructure monitoring.
