Abstract

The increasing reliance on digital tools in academic research has transformed the waysociological knowledge is produced, organized, and analysed. This paper examined theapplication of Mendeley in sociological analysis, with particular attention to its role insupporting literature organization, theoretical engagement, and empirical interpretation. Therationale for the study is grounded in the growing volume of scholarly materials in sociology andthe need for efficient systems that enhance research accuracy, coherence, and productivity. Areview-based analytical method was adopted, drawing on recent scholarly works on referencemanagement tools and their relevance to academic research practices. The paper revealed thatMendeley significantly enhances sociological analysis by facilitating systematic literaturereview, enabling structured organization of theoretical and empirical sources, and supportingannotation that aids critical reflection during reading. The paper further showed that theMendeley promotes collaborative research through shared libraries and contributes tocomparative sociological analysis by allowing researchers to manage studies from diverse socialcontexts. In addition, Mendeley supports accurate citation practices and provides data that can beused in bibliometric assessments of scholarly communication. The implications of these findingssuggest that the effective use of digital reference management tools strengthens the rigour andcredibility of sociological research. It was concluded that Mendeley serves as an essential tool inmodern sociological inquiry. The paper recommended increased training and institutionalsupport for researchers to improve proficiency in its use.
