A new hybrid manganese bromide, (PP13)2MnBr4 (PP13+ = N-propyl-N-methylpiperidinium), was synthesized through a facile and environmentally friendly method. (PP13)2MnBr4 shows bright green photoluminescence with a high quantum yield of 63.98%. Its photoluminescence (PL) intensity significantly decreases during the phase transition, accompanied by a pronounced dielectric anomaly. Interestingly, (PP13)2MnBr4 demonstrates excellent scintillation performance under X-ray excitation, with a light yield of 24124.4 photons/MeV. The temperature-sensitive luminescence and dielectric properties of (PP13)2MnBr4, combined with its excellent X-ray detection capability, suggest that (PP13)2MnBr4 has potential multifunctional applications in the optoelectronic field.
