Abstract This article explores Andean textile practices as embodied systems of energy and expression. Through art-based research, and a methodology that integrates fiber optics, microcontrollers, sensors, and addressable LEDs into fibers, it demonstrates how ancient textile practices such as spinning and weaving can generate, store, and conduct energy. The author shows how traditional weaving techniques from Bolivia can be reconceived as active energy systems, capable of transmitting information through photons and electric pulses. She shows textile artworks as mediators in relationships where energy manifests itself through technology, situating Andean textiles as interfaces where cognition, perception, and energy flows work together. The research offers a unique dialogue between textile tradition, media art, and forces such as the electricity that shapes our world.
