ABSTRACT Cyanotic heart disease is a known risk factor for brain abscess. Anesthesia for burr‐hole drainage in these patients can be challenging due to complications like an increase in right‐to‐left shunt, arrhythmias, heart failure, and paradoxical air embolism. The risk of these complications can be decreased by choosing a scalp block with conscious sedation.
