Evidence-based case report demonstrates significant symptom relief in allergic rhinitis using homoeopathy.
Allergic rhinitis is an immunoglobulin E-mediated inflammation of the nasal mucosa, causing sneezing, nasal itching, watery discharge, and nasal blockage. Homoeopathic individualization helps in the selection of remedy based on symptom similarity. A 28-year-old male presented to the outpatient department with sneezing, itching in the nasal canal, watery discharge from the nose, and itching of the palate and ear canals for 2 years. The symptoms were aggravated by dust and spring season; the patient had undergone treatment and was advised to take antihistamines, which relieved his symptoms for a short period of time. After Homoeopathic evaluation and based on the totality of the symptoms, Arundo Mauritanica 30C potency was selected and prescribed. Auxiliary advice included avoidance of dust exposure. Significant improvement in the reduction in sneezing and itching was noted at 7 days. At 21 days, itching and discharge were almost reduced. After 5 weeks, all the symptoms were resolved, and the nasal mucosa appeared normal. Individualized homoeopathic remedy Arundo mauritanica was effective in this case of allergic rhinitis.
