This manuscript presents a detailed response to Jan Slowak’s critique of the peer-reviewed article Einstein’s Cat: A Thought Experiment on the Universality of Time Dilation (Rousseau, Physics Education, 2025). The critique is examined both conceptually and mathematically, with particular attention to its treatment of fundamental notions in Special Relativity, including proper time, Lorentz invariance, and the role of thought experiments in theoretical physics. The analysis demonstrates that the objections raised by Slowak stem from a series of misunderstandings, including the conflation of distinct experimental configurations, the mischaracterization of frame-independent physical outcomes, and an incorrect interpretation of the logical structure of relativistic arguments. It is further shown that no alternative theoretical framework is provided that is capable of reproducing the extensive body of experimental evidence supporting Special Relativity. In addition, the manuscript highlights internal inconsistencies in the critique’s methodology, notably the reliance on thought experiments while simultaneously dismissing their validity when used in the original work. The response clarifies the pedagogical purpose of the “Einstein’s Cat” thought experiment and reaffirms the universality of time dilation as a necessary consequence of Lorentz invariance. Overall, this work aims to correct misconceptions about Special Relativity, reinforce the logical consistency of its foundational principles, and emphasize the distinction between disagreement with a theory and the demonstration of an actual inconsistency.
